About Jen Stevens
Hello! I'm Jen Stevens, an award-winning singer/songwriter, live performer, session musician, Musical Director, Choir Leader, Piano Teacher and Voice Coach based in South Shields, Tyne & Wear. I have been working with students of all ages and abilities since 2007, helping them to develop their practical and theoretical skills and guiding them on their own unique voice journey. It's an incredibly rewarding job, and I feel so grateful to be able to share my passion for music with others.

My approach to teaching singing is holistic, and I place a strong emphasis on relaxation techniques such as voice yoga and breath awareness. These techniques not only complement all styles of singing, but they are also great for mental health - something which I am very passionate about promoting.

As someone who has had to work incredibly hard to get where I am today, I understand the importance of having a good vocal coach. That's why I have taken everything I have learned over the years and combined it into an approach that is friendly, approachable, and effective. I believe that every student has the potential to improve and reach their goals with the right guidance and support.

BMus (Hons) in Jazz, Popular & Commercial Music - University of Sunderland
Grade 8 Popular Music Vocals (Honours) - London College of Music,
Grade 7 Jazz Piano (Merit) and Grade 5 Classical Piano (Distinction) - Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

To keep up with the latest developments in vocal coaching and music education, I have completed the BAST Singing Teacher Training Course 2021 and the VHE Vocal Health First Aid Foundation Course 2021. I am also a member of the Musician's Union, BAST, The Curious Piano Teachers, and Vibrant Music Teaching, and hold full Public Liability insurance, an enhanced DBS check, and up-to-date certificates in Safeguarding.
